Action
Pharmacology: Mechanism of Action: Axcel Vitalic Tablets consists of three essential neurotropic vitamins which are vitamins B1, B6 and B12 in high dosage. These three vitamins are important for the metabolism in the peripheral and central nervous system.
In various investigations, their effect on the regeneration of nerves has been shown using the vitamins individually and in combination. Vitamin B1 has a vital role in major metabolic processes. Vitamin B6 has an analgesic effect. Vitamin B12 helps in the formation of blood cell and prevents degenerative processes of the nervous system. The individual function and the beneficial biochemical links between these three vitamins justify their combined use.
Pharmacokinetics: Vitamin B1 is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. It is widely distributed to most of body tissues. Vitamin B1 and its metabolites are excreted in the urine when the amounts excess the body's requirement.
Vitamin B6 is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. It is then followed by the hydrolysis of its phosphorylated derivatives to pyridoxal phosphate. The primary form of pyridoxal phosphate crosses the cell membranes. The metabolite, 4-pyridoxic acid is excreted in the urine.
Vitamin 12 is bound to intrinsic factor in the presence of gastric acid and pancreatic proteases. Then, it is actively absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Around 90% of Vitamin B12 is stored in the liver. Vitamin B12 is mostly excreted in the bile.
